We are two yoga lovers, husband and wife, who care about nature and are in search of an organic feeling while practicing yoga. We created Margami from our own experiences, with love.

We produce our own yoga mats, wheels, cushions, straps, pillows, blocks and mat sprays which are 100% natural and eco-friendly, all designed and hand made by us.
Marga is a Sanskrit term referring to the path to spiritual realization, salvation or enlightenment. The literal meaning of the word is “path” and can also come to mean a way of achieving something, but this usually refers to a spiritual goal. To explain this term as “my path”, we came up with the name Margami with a little word play.
Cork is a 100% natural, renewable, recyclable and biodegradable material that is obtained from the outer bark of the cork Oak Tree (Quercus SuberL)
The grip is provided naturally with its main component of Suberin, an organic mixture that coats the cork cells, providing a resistance to moisture. Naturally water resistant cork provides a non-slip surface. Cork is antimicrobial and does not absorb dust.
Over 50% of cork’s volume is air which makes the cork block extremely light.
Cork forests that protect the world’s second largest plant diversity are placed along the Mediterranean area mostly in Portugal and are protected by laws. A cork oak can live up to 200 years and is the only tree in the world that can regenerate its bark. Cork is obtained through an environmentally friendly harvesting process, without damaging the tree.
When we practice Yoga, one of the most important things for us is naturality of the surface and alignment in poses; that means grip. A good grip provides you to obtain a better foundation, which is the key for developing your practices and getting deeper into your poses.
Unfortunately many brands use a lot of harmful additive chemicals or synthetic materials to obtain a grippier surface. From the ecological side, we know that synthetic materials don’t dissolve completely in nature.

There are many varieties of cork products in the market. Cork is used in many industries such as construction, automotive, stationary vs. Unlike natural corks, many synthetic corks are made from materials that are not biodegradable and are not sustainably sourced. These cork products which are made with synthetic corks, contain many plastic additives. When looking for the right product, be aware of these details!
